We relieve, replace, or reinforce failing steel and stone lintels before the wall above them starts to crack.
A lintel is the support that carries the masonry over a window or door. When it rusts, cracks, or shifts, the load has nowhere to go and the wall above starts to crack, bulge, or drop. Caught early it is a straightforward repair; left alone it turns into a much bigger one.
We remove the failed lintel, set the replacement, and re-lay the masonry over it, adding flashing where it is needed to keep water out of the opening. Wherever we can, we salvage and reset the original brick and stone so the finished opening reads like the rest of the wall.
